Estimates of the distance distribution of nonbinary codes, with applications

چکیده
We use the polynomial method to derive upper and lower bounds on the distance distribution of nonbinary codes in the Hamming space. Applications of the bounds include a better asymptotic upper bound on the weight distribution of Goppa codes from maximal curves, a new upper bound on the size of a q-ary code with a given rth generalized weight, improved estimates of the size of secant spaces of algebraic curves over Fq ; and remarks on the error exponents for the q-ary symmetric channel.

One-point Goppa Codes on Some Genus 3 Curves with Applications in Quantum Error-Correcting Codes
We investigate one-point algebraic geometric codes CL(D, G) associated to maximal curves recently characterized by Tafazolian and Torres given by the affine equation yl = f(x), where f(x) is a separable polynomial of degree r relatively prime to l. We mainly focus on the curve y4 = x3 +x and Picard curves given by the equations y3 = x4-x and y3 = x4 -1. As a result, we obtain exact value of min...
متن کاملOn the Hamming bound for nonbinary localized-error-correcting codes
For nonbinary codes it is proved that the Hamming bound is asymptotically sharp in some range of the code rate.
متن کاملConstruction of [[n,n − 4,3]]q quantum codes for odd prime power q
The theory of quantum error-correcting codes (QECCs, for short) has been exhaustively studied in the literature; see [1–8]. The most widely studied class of quantum codes are binary quantum stabilizer codes. A thorough discussion on the principles of quantum coding theory was given in [3] and [4] for binary quantum stabilizer codes. An appealing aspect of binary quantum codes is that there exis...
متن کاملConstructions of New Nonbinary Quantum Codes∗
Two new families of good nonbinary quantum codes are constructed in this paper. The first one can be regarded as a generalization of [Theorem 3.2, X. Kai, S. Zhu and Y. Tang, Phys. Rev. A 88, 012326 (2013)], in the sense that we drop the constraint q ≡ 1 (mod 4). The later one is a quantum maximal-distance-separable (MDS) code. Compared the parameters of our quantum MDS codes with the parameter...
متن کاملOn the Analysis of Weighted Nonbinary Repeat Multiple-Accumulate Codes
In this paper, we consider weighted nonbinary repeat multiple-accumulate (WNRMA) code ensembles obtained from the serial concatenation of a nonbinary rate-1/n repeat code and the cascade of L ≥ 1 accumulators, where each encoder is followed by a nonbinary random weighter. The WNRMA codes are assumed to be iteratively decoded using the turbo principle with maximum a posteriori constituent decode...
